Coming of Age @ Blog World Expo 2008

(best-selling author Tim Ferris (green shirt) and Logan Kugler (glasses)

So a best-selling author and a gradeschool dropout walk into a bar... make that a convention. Okay bad set-up, but i realized that it takes all kinds when you're at the BWE. lemme explain:

Okay, I got to meet Tim Ferris, author of The 4-Hour WorkWeek. It's a long-time best-seller and has been  on every major list imaginable. (Sorry for the red eye, fellas.) Anyway, Tim Ferris was part of the keynote panel along with Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park on the final Sunday of Blog World Expo.

As for the young man to his left who puts the "s" in "fellas"? His name is Logan Kugler. As he sat in the auditorium after the keynote plucking away on his laptop, everybody was about this kid; so I decided that I just had to meet him. "Some day, we're all gonna end up working for him," one guy said in describing him.

Logan Kugler is also a noted business and social media expert. He's been published in 30 national and international publications including Success, PC Magazine, Businessweek and Men's Journal. He's also starting up a new column for Advertising Age beginning this October.

Oh, did I mention that this Logan guy is just 18 years old and that he dropped out of school when he was only 11-years-old?

Yeah... an 18 year old grade-school dropout.

The little snot.

Just kidding. Logan came of as a really nice guy. But seriously, the guy dropped out of school when he was 11 years old—dad supported it, mom didn't. He was home-schooled for a while but that only lasted a few months, he said.

"Google, the Discovery Channel and History Channel..." was his response when I asked him what he did for stimuli and education.

The kid is basically a self-taught business expert. Now I may not end up working for him, but I'm definitely curious to read his column in Ad Age... Something tells me he's legit.

Needless to say, I'm gonna try to interview both of these guys more in-depth for HUSTLEKNOCKERS.

Stay tuned.

We Want Our Kids Back Too is an online campaign highlighting the disparity in coverage of missing children of color in favor of missing white, so-called "pretty" girls, and white women. People of Color deserve just as much consideration as any white person. Take a look at these ads and circulate them often.
