Kwame... The Man We all Know and Love.

Ah, Kwame... Where did it all go so wrong?

Kwame Kilpatrick

Y'all know Kwame Kilpatrick, right? Disgraced mayor of the city of Detroit michigan? Allow me to refresh your memories:

So yeah, that's K2.

As you can see, the boy is wild. Been wild. It's sad because the guy had a lot of promise and potential...I just wish this guy had seen the mess he was in—not this one, but the one he got into when he got elected. Oh yeah, here's Christine, his chief of staff/mistress..

Cute, ain't she? Still, the brotha shoulda stuck with the wife.

Sceondly, I wish K2 had been smarter about the political side of things Detroit's got problems that nobody can fix; his first lie/hint of arrogance was claiming that he could and would. No Mayor can fix a city economy when  it's built around a single industry--the automotive--that's packed up and left all at once, and was long gone before you got into office.

No mayor can fix a school system like Detroit's that's not designed to teach skills for future jobs, but rather live up to past, irrelevant academic requirements and tests. You can't fix a drug epidemic and a crime epidemic when people are broke, watching their jobs float away and their property sink into the toilet.

No mayor can fix all that stuff in a term or two. Or even 5.

Everything that could go wrong in a city short of natural disaster has gone wrong all at once in Detroit. The motor city doesn't need a mayor, it needs the social/economic equivalent of a working FEMA.

But K-dog said he'd fix everything. And the people were desperate enough to believe him. And sn't that where the trouble always starts with government?

Dude needs an image overhaul. Maybe he should start with some polkadots. Can't hurt.

We Want Our Kids Back Too is an online campaign highlighting the disparity in coverage of missing children of color in favor of missing white, so-called "pretty" girls, and white women. People of Color deserve just as much consideration as any white person. Take a look at these ads and circulate them often.
